Undated Broadcasts Project — Cecil and Sally Winter 1930–1931 Arc
Continuing our chronological resolution across the 1928–1933 syndicated daily comedy serial Cecil and Sally (starring Johnny Patrick and Helen Troy), This update resolves an additional 50 sequential broadcasts (Sequences 638 through 687, representing Episodes 281 through 330).
Airing daily across San Francisco (KPO/KYA) and national transcription syndication between November 28, 1930 and January 24, 1931, this winter sequence features major comedic serial story arcs:
- The Alexander Rivalry: Handsome suitor Alexander steps into Sally's parlor, sparking immediate friction. Cecil and Alexander engage in a battle of wits, a compliment competition, and an impromptu poetry contest, leading Cecil to attempt an ill-fated counter-scheme matchmaking Alexander with Sybil.
- The Mustache Dyeing Catastrophe: Cecil attempts to cultivate a distinguished mustache. Unimpressed by the pale whiskers, Sally convinces him to dye it darker, applying black shoe polish to his upper lip with indelible, hilarious results.
- The Rudy Vallée Serenade: Jealous of Sally's adoration for pop sensation Rudy Vallée, Cecil attempts to win back her attention with his own falsetto parlor rendition of I'm Just a Vagabond Lover.
- The College Football Trip: A freezing Saturday afternoon at the gridiron turns chaotic when Cecil is forced to park blocks away, and Sally spends the entire game buying souvenirs and people-watching instead of watching the field.
Reaching 1,689 broadcasts resolved in the master project ledger, each entry features verified daily airdates, standardized comedy taxonomy, and pure narrative synopses.
