Undated Broadcasts Project — 1,500 Broadcasts Resolved Milestone
With the completion of This update (50 broadcasts, Sequences 488 through 537), the master undated broadcast resolution project achieves a momentous benchmark: 1,539 broadcasts fully dated, titled, and resolved across 31 consecutive cohorts.
Focusing on the historic daily transcribed comedy serial Cecil and Sally (starring Johnny Patrick and Helen Troy), this cohort resolves Episodes 131 through 180, charting the daily broadcast continuum from June 6, 1930 to August 2, 1930.
This summer sequence contains some of the funniest set-pieces in early broadcasting:
- The Loose Tooth Crisis: Cecil whines about an aching tooth until a massive sneeze launches it across the parlor.
- The Masquerade Drag Saga: Cecil loses a bet and allows Sally to dress him in petticoats and high heels for a costume ball, where he gets into a fistfight defending Sally's honor and later runs out of gas in his jalopy Ben Hur, forcing them to siphon gas from a farmer who mistakes Cecil for Sally's sister.
- Chewing Tobacco Bravado: Seeking to project rugged masculinity, Cecil tries a plug of tobacco and spends days nursing severe sickness on the divan.
- The Park Statue Debacle: Cecil climbs a civic monument to impress Sally, gets stuck, and watches the responding police officer climb up and get stranded alongside him.
