Undated Broadcasts Project — Cecil and Sally Episode 1,000 & College Days Arc
Continuing our chronological resolution across the 1928–1933 syndicated daily comedy serial Cecil and Sally (starring Johnny Patrick and Helen Troy), This update resolves an additional 50 sequential broadcasts (Sequences 1338 through 1387, representing Episodes 981 through 1030).
Airing daily across the West Coast on KPO/KYA and nationwide via transcription discs between February 22 and April 20, 1933, this landmark update includes the broadcast of Episode 1,000 alongside two major extended serial arcs:
- Cecil Goes to College: Seeking to impress Sally and better himself, Cecil enrolls as a university freshman. He meets his laid-back roommate Bob, buys varsity sweaters, and is stunned when Sally makes a surprise appearance on campus.
- The Fraternity Hazing & The Milestone Episode 1,000: Cecil pledges the campus fraternity, discovering rival Alexander is an upperclass officer. For Episode 1,000 (aired March 16, 1933), Alexander hires an eccentric Shakespearean actor to trap Cecil and Sally in a dark basement with an imaginary banquet. Later, Alexander puts red ants in Cecil's tights for the university production of Romeo and Juliet, turning the tragedy into a chaotic farce.
- The Stadium Fund Scandal & Expulsion: Appointed head of student collections for the university athletic stadium, Cecil gets arrested for soliciting without a street permit. When the stadium cash box vanishes from his dorm, Cecil faces the dean and is expelled.
- The Graveyard Counterfeiting Mystery: Returning home, Cecil and Sally investigate the disappearance of Willie's father near the cemetery. They unearth a tin box buried in an open grave containing six hundred dollars. Cecil spends five hundred and fifty dollars on a used coupe, only for Federal Treasury agents (T-Men) to knock on the door and reveal the buried cash is counterfeit.
Reaching 2,389 broadcasts resolved in the master project ledger, each entry features verified daily airdates, standardized comedy taxonomy, and pure narrative synopses.
